The Haitian American Veterans Association, Inc. (H.A.V.A.) is a non profit organization that strives to maintain, improve, and guide veterans' way of life, nationally and internationally, through advocacy and a network of support and referral services. We guide veterans to the Veterans Administration, social services and other programs that are in place for them. We assist veterans who face challenges such as homelessness, reentry after combat, nutritional needs, and many other veteran related issues. In addition, H.A.V.A. develops educational and health workshops in various communities.
It is also our mission to promote the military history of Haitian American Veterans. Their contribution to the United States is immeasurable as Haitian soldiers have served in EVERY war in American history. We march in parades, attend festivals and participate other community functions representing Haitian American soldiers of the past and present and setting the precedent for future generations of Haitian American solders.
Our goals are accomplished through community outreach, networking with government agencies, and collaboration with other organizations. As a social service organization we rely membership dues, sponsorship, grants, and fundraising in order to accomplish our goals.
Veterans of the United States deserve a good quality of life. Our veterans are the reason we enjoy a free society and we believe it is our duty to help them achieve that. We want to bring to light not only the enormous contributions of Haitian American Veterans, but also the contribution of all veterans groups in this country.
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."
